MARIETTA, Ga. (July 15, 2015) – WellStar Health System is bringing world-class healthcare close to home with new, cutting-edge technology in Paulding County. WellStar Paulding Hospital’s new CT scanner offers patients lower radiation doses while simultaneously providing higher quality images to radiologists. This means more precise diagnoses and customized treatments.
“This type of scanner really puts us at the forefront of technology in Paulding County,” said Bob Mandler, vice president of diagnostic outreach for WellStar Health System. “This scanner has double the detectors allowing it to do twice the amount of acquisitions in the same amount of time. We’re able to customize the dose for each patient. In general, any time we can lower a radiation dose, that’s in the best interest of the patient.”
The Philips Ingenuity Core 128 CT Scanner also allows radiologists to perform minimally invasive CT interventional radiology procedures to diagnose and treat patients in ways that were not before possible in Paulding. Interventional radiology strives to diagnose and treat patients with the least invasive technologies to minimize patient risk and improve health outcomes. One use allows radiologists to see the exact location while placing a needle during a procedure, allow for higher precision and less discomfort.
Patients will also benefit from WellStar’s integrated access to the images. Physicians can view patients’ scans at any WellStar access point including in their physicians’ offices, urgent care or the Emergency Department, leading to a higher level of integrated care and convenience.
WellStar Paulding Hospital is located at 2518 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway in Hiram.
